Search Somervell County Court Docket

The Somervell County court docket is a dated record of filings, hearings, orders, and outcomes in local court cases. To search the Somervell County court docket, first match the case type to the court and clerk that keeps it. District, county, justice, and municipal matters follow different routes, and no single public screen covers them all. Online case and hearing tools provide a useful start, while clerk counters, phone confirmation, mailed requests, and office computers fill gaps. A careful Somervell County docket search also separates a brief event entry from the filed document and from a certified copy.

Somervell County Docket Search Tools

The Tyler UCMS Public Access Portal offers two different tools. Smart Search and Search Hearings do not do the same job. Smart Search takes a record number or a name typed last, first, middle, suffix. Advanced filters let you narrow by location, case type, status, and file-date range. You can also filter by judicial officer. The filters even control whether results include cases, judgments, or warrants. Search Hearings adds fields for hearing type, courtroom, officer, and date. Use the tab that matches what you actually need from the Somervell County court docket.

Somervell County court docket District Clerk portal page

The District Clerk page gathers everything in one official spot. You will find the search portal, the local calendar, eFileTexas, office contacts, and records services there. It is the natural first stop for a Somervell County docket search.

What a Court Docket Shows

Think of a Somervell County court docket as a timeline in list form. It can show the case, the court, the parties, the category, the filed date, the current status, filings, settings, and the outcome. Some systems add a document name, a page count, a price, or an access status. But read with care. A blank field does not prove an event never happened, and a short event label is no substitute for the signed order itself.

Case NumberA unique identifier; county OCA reports use Somervell code 213 and CCCV or CCCR categories.
PartiesPlaintiff and defendant, petitioner and respondent, or the State and defendant, subject to access limits.
Entries and FilingsDated activity such as a petition, charge, answer, motion, citation, order, or judgment.
Hearing SettingsType, date, time, court, officer, or courtroom when the source populates them.
Court and JudgeThe venue and judicial officer assigned to the matter.
DispositionThe recorded result, which should be checked against the signed judgment or order.

Somervell County Docket Clerk Split

Two clerks hold most of the Somervell County court records. The District Clerk keeps permanent District Court civil, criminal, family, juvenile, grand-jury, and minor-trust files. The County Clerk handles County Civil, Probate, Guardianship, misdemeanor criminal, juvenile, and Commissioners Court matters. Because of that split, one portal can return nothing. Another office may still hold the case you want.

Each office also runs its own search route. County Court criminal indices live in Tyler Odyssey. County civil, probate, and guardianship proceedings run through re:SearchTX. The District Clerk's Tyler link covers district records and hearings. eFileTexas is the filing engine for parties and attorneys. It is not the public Somervell County court docket itself.

Two lower courts add more routes. The Justice of the Peace keeps evictions, small claims, and justice civil claims. Class C citation matters land there as well. Glen Rose Municipal Court keeps city ordinance and traffic cases.

Which Courts Keep Dockets

Where a case lands depends on jurisdiction. Felony charges go to the 18th or 249th District Court. Major civil or family matters land there as well. County Court takes county-level misdemeanor, civil, probate, guardianship, juvenile, and protective-order work. JP courts hear lower civil claims and Class C matters. City offenses belong to Glen Rose Municipal Court.

Somervell County Dockets in Cleburne

District records contacts sit in Glen Rose, but the 18th and 249th District Courts hold regional courtrooms at the Guinn Justice Center, 204 S. Buffalo Avenue in Cleburne. The 18th uses Room 304 and phone 817-556-6820. The 249th uses Room 208 and phone 817-556-6825. Expecting the records counter and the hearing room to share an address is a common mistake here.

Always confirm the court, date, time, and location before you drive. A county calendar entry might read "249th Criminal Docket" or "249th Civil Docket" without the full case-specific room and time in its short text. When a listing lacks a field, call the court coordinator or the District Clerk.

Appeals move up too. Somervell County state appeals generally go to the Tenth Court of Appeals in Waco, which has included the county in its district since 1927. Criminal death-penalty appeals take a different route to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. A notice of appeal may first appear in the trial docket, followed by an appellate cause number in the higher court's docket.

Finding Court Dates and Settings

Four channels help you find a Somervell County court date. Tyler Search Hearings is one. The District Court calendar is another. The case's own event history is a third. Human confirmation through a clerk or coordinator rounds them out. Start with the newest official notice. Then search hearings by location, type, officer, courtroom, party, or date. The county calendar offers list, week, and month views with date and phrase filters.

Watch for stale dates. A reset, continuance, or pass can leave an old date sitting in the history. None of those is a disposition. Rely on the newest future event and check it against the Somervell County court calendar. If the time or room is missing, call the 18th or 249th District Court, the District Clerk, the County Court coordinator, the JP, or the municipal clerk as fits the case.

Somervell County Docket Number Codes

County Court reports reveal two number families at a glance. Take YY-213-CCCV-NNNNN: the year comes first, 213 is the Somervell county code, CCCV marks a County Court civil category, and the final digits form the sequence. The criminal counterpart is YY-213-CCCR-NNNNN, where CCCR marks a County Court criminal case.

CCCV
County Court civil category in Somervell OCA reporting.
CCCR
County Court criminal category in Somervell OCA reporting.
Docket call
A calendar status or readiness setting, not the trial result.
Disposition
The recorded outcome, such as judgment, conviction, dismissal, or nonsuit.

These codes only cover County Court. They do not establish the District Court number format. Confirm a district cause number in Tyler or with the Somervell County District Clerk.

Public Access to Dockets

Many docket entries are open to the public. Court access rules differ, though, from the rules for general county administrative records. Search results can omit juvenile, sealed, protected family, or sensitive material. Redaction may hide identifiers while the filing and its events stay visible. A missing online case proves neither. It does not prove that no case exists.

Key Rules:

Texas Rule of Judicial Administration 12 generally opens judicial records within its scope, subject to exemptions.

Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 76a presumes civil court records open and sets a sealing standard.

Texas Rule of Civil Procedure 21c requires covered sensitive data to be omitted or redacted.

Texas Family Code Chapter 58 protects juvenile records through confidentiality and sealing rules.

Somervell County Docket Record Layers

A docket entry, a filed document, and a certified copy are three different things. The Somervell County court docket covers the case. It tells you what was filed, set, or decided. The filed document is the paper itself: the petition, motion, order, judgment, citation, or return. A certified copy adds the clerk's authentication. That matters whenever official proof is required.

Record LayerWhat It ProvidesWhere to Get It
Docket or registerChronological case activityTyler, re:SearchTX, calendar, or clerk
Filed documentThe actual pleading, order, or judgmentPortal purchase, terminal, or clerk request
Certified copyClerk-authenticated recordCustodial clerk

Copies through re:SearchTX run $0.10 per page, and each order starts at a $1 minimum. The District Clerk adds a $5 search fee when you show up without a cause number, plus its own copy and certification charges. Fees shift, so confirm the amount and the right Somervell County office before you order anything.

The Clerk and Docket Records

For District Court dockets in Somervell County, the District Clerk is the office to call. You can reach it several ways. Use the Tyler search link, or come to the counter, by phone, email, fax, or mail. What it cannot promise is that every court record lives online. Older case files may sit in paper, archive, microfilm, or another image format. Ask the clerk what exists off-screen. The County Clerk is the separate stop for County Court records. It keeps public computers on hand for county indices and images.

The County Clerk takes requests in person or by mail at P.O. Box 1098. Doors open Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday hours run 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Money stops changing hands 30 minutes before close. One linked records page lists a different Friday time. If a fee matters to your visit, call first.

Missing Somervell County Docket Cases

A Tyler search that comes back empty is not always bad spelling. Routing comes first. Civil and probate matters in County Court can sit in re:SearchTX, while county misdemeanors often live in Tyler Odyssey. An eviction or small claim may belong to the JP instead, and a city citation to Glen Rose Municipal Court. Juvenile and protected cases may stay out of public view entirely.

If the record exists, write down the court, the case number, the document, and a rough date before you call. Then reach the right clerk by phone or at the counter, mail a precise request, or use the county's published open-records email and hand delivery when that fits. Some judicial records must go straight to their custodian under Rule 12. For public indices and images, the County Clerk terminals are another option.

One more wrinkle matters here. Somervell County started scanning County Clerk records in August 2005 and kept back-scanning older material after that. So "not online" can simply mean the paper predates the image set. Old files still exist; they just have not been scanned.

Somervell County Docket Activity

The FY2024 OCA district report offers a snapshot of Somervell County court docket activity. When the reporting year opened, 265 cases sat active pending. Over the next twelve months, 245 new cases were added. Another 29 old ones were reactivated. In that same span, 292 were disposed and 31 went inactive. By August 31, 2024, the district courts were carrying 211 active pending cases. The reporting window runs from September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024. It does not count every local court. Nor is it a live tally of open cases today.

Those OCA numbers describe workload, not outcomes in a single matter. For one case, turn to Tyler and the clerk's records instead. A monthly County Court report also tracks activity categories and dates, but it is no substitute for the Somervell County court docket itself.

Somervell County Child Protection Dockets

One specialized docket clearly serves Somervell County: the Eighth Region South Child Protection Court. Its Texas Courts Online selector lets you pick the county. You can view docket dates apart from the ordinary county calendar. A date selector, though, does not open the underlying child or family record to the public.

No official page lists a separately branded Somervell drug, veterans, mental-health, or DWI court docket. A specialty-court account appears in the county finance code. That alone does not prove such a public docket exists. A diversion or treatment matter may show up under an ordinary criminal cause number. If it does, ask the clerk or coordinator. Ask whether any separate public calendar is kept.

Federal cases live outside the state and county systems. Somervell County sits in the Waco Division of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas. Federal district and bankruptcy dockets run on CM/ECF. Public access comes through PACER. Certified copies come from the federal clerk. That world is separate from Tyler, re:SearchTX, and the local clerks.

Court Dockets by City in Somervell County

Glen Rose is the only incorporated city in Somervell County. It therefore claims the county's only city court page. Its Municipal Court handles ordinance violations, traffic citations, and other Class C matters inside the city. The city posts court dates and procedures. But it offers no public case-detail portal. Call the municipal clerk to confirm a citation or a setting. Nemo, Rainbow, and Glass stay unincorporated and create no municipal dockets of their own.

Map and Directions to the Somervell County District Clerk's Office

Somervell County's 18th and 249th District Courts handle felony, major civil, family, and juvenile matters, but their case files and public counter are kept in Glen Rose at 101 NE Barnard Street, not at the courtrooms themselves. The two district courts actually sit at the Guinn Justice Center in Cleburne — the 18th District Court in Room 304 and the 249th District Court in Room 208 — so a hearing appearance and a records request happen at two separate buildings.
